Memory and representation
Once we have selected a location to fixate, what do we encode and retain from that location? This question remains controversial but growing evidence supports the notion that some information is remembered about the objects we fixate. The precise nature of these memories - what information is encoded and how it is accumulated across fixations - is as yet unclear. A particular emphasis of this research project is to try to understand visual representation and object memory in naturalistic settings. To this end we use a combination of static scene viewing, movie image stimuli and real environments to run our experiments.
